Title: Day 2 of Common Task

Today the students will work individually to continue the completion one of the school's common tasks.

• The student understands that matter cycles and energy flows through an ecosystem.
• Students will be able to describe interdependence, interactions and explain the transfer of energy through trophic levels.

Opening

• "Today we will continue the Food Webs Common Task. Please take out your Common Task and begin working quietly and independently. This will be collected and graded in accordance to the rubric. Remember that it would be wise to give this your best effort as you will not be permitted to move into the next grade without demonstrating proficiency on this common task. Good luck!"
• "While you are working you can refer back to any notes we have already taken. It would be wise to refer to your textbook as well as notes and completed worksheets on this topic."

• "Please stop working on your common task, we will finish tomorrow"
• As you worked on your common task today, what are some trends you are noticing? Which type of organisms are present in higher numbers in food webs? Why do you think this is so? (Producers- they transform the energy from the sun into their own food energy that another organism can gain from eating them. They produce the energy needed by the system.)

Assessment

-The common task will be graded to demonstrate which learning goals the student has reached and which they still need to work on.
